life and career

Matt Keeslar was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1972. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1991 and then moved from Michigan to New York to attend the Juilliard School of Drama . Despite his love of the theater, he also made his feature film debut as an actor in Robert Redford's drama Quiz Show in 1994 . Since the Juilliard School imposes strict rules on its graduates with regard to working conditions outside of school, Keeslar left Juilliard after his third year in order to be able to devote himself mainly to a career in the film business.

In the 1990s, Keeslar played roles in Robert Allan Ackerman's production Safe Passage , in Peter Yates ' romantic drama The Land of My Love next to Albert Finney , in Stanley Tong's comedy Mr. Magoo with Leslie Nielsen , in Whit Stillman's musical film The Last Days of Disco in the ensemble Chloë Sevigny , Kate Beckinsale and Chris Eigeman .

In the 2000s he was also seen in high-quality television miniseries such as the science fiction film adaptation Dune - The Desert Planet as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen or in the horror series Stephen King's House of Damnation as Steve Rimbauer alongside Nancy Travis and Kimberly J. Brown . On screen, he appeared in Wes Craven 's third installment Scream 3 in 2000 in the popular Scream series. In 2006 he played Jonah in Terry Zwigoff's comedy Art School Confidential . In Cold Storage in 2009 he played his last role in the cinema so far.

His numerous television appearances include appearances in episodes of well-known television series between 1995 and 2010, including: Law & Order (1998), The Inside (2005), Ghost Whisperer - Voices from the Beyond (2006), Criminal Intent - Crime in the sights (2006 ), Numbers - The Logic of Crime (2006), Dollhouse (2009) or Leverage (2010).

Matt Keeslar's film and television career spans more than 40 international feature films, television films and television series. Outside of his film career, he established a permanent collaboration with the South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California, where he appeared in stage plays and gave theater readings.

Matt Keeslar retired from film and television in 2010 largely in favor of a career in academia. He graduated from Reed College with a degree in biology in May 2014 with a thesis researching the effects of anti- malarial drugs on the brains of frogs.

He has been married to Lori Henriques since 2005.
