Career

Matt Stajan began his career with the Belleville Bulls from the Ontario Hockey League , for which he was active for a total of three years from 2000 to 2003. During this time he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the second round as a total of 57th player by the Toronto Maple Leafs . In January 2010, Stajan was sold to the Calgary Flames in a multi-player swap deal . In March 2018, he played his 1000th regular season game in the NHL in the Flames' jersey. After the 2017/18 season, his expiring contract in Calgary was not renewed.

For the 2018/19 season, the Canadian moved to EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League . There he was third best scorer in Munich with 33 points. Stajan then announced his official retirement in December 2019. In total, he had completed 1003 games in the NHL and recorded 413 points scorer.
