Matteo Darmian (born December 2, 1989 in Legnano ) is an Italian football player who has been under contract with Parma Calcio since the beginning of September 2019 .
Career
societies
Darmian began his professional career at the Italian first division club AC Milan and came in the 2006/2007 season for the first time on May 19, 2007 (37th matchday) in the 2: 3 defeat in the home game against Udinese Calcio with a substitution for Giuseppe Favalli in the 59th minute for use. In the following season he did not play a league game, again three league games in the 2008/2009 season . He played his second for AC Milan on December 21, 2008 (17th matchday) in a 5-1 home win (again) against Udinese Calcio, just under a year and seven months after his debut.
Via a loan deal he was given to the second division team Calcio Padova on July 17, 2009 , for which he played 20 point games in which he scored a goal. For the 2010/11 season he moved to the first division US Palermo , for which he played eleven point games. In the 2011/12 season he was - repeatedly through a loan deal - active with the second division club FC Turin , with whom he was promoted to Serie A 2012/13 as runner-up . In three top division seasons, he played 100 games and scored two goals, with his first division goal on October 29, 2014 (9th matchday) in the home game against FC Parma at the same time as the winning goal.
For the 2015/16 season - with a contract valid until June 30, 2019, with an option for a further year - he was signed by the English first division club Manchester United, for whom he played on August 8, 2015 (1st match day) at 1 : 0 home win against Tottenham Hotspur debuted from the start and was only substituted for Antonio Valencia in the 81st minute .
At the beginning of September 2019, Darmian returned to Italy and joined the first division club Parma Calcio , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2023.
National team
He made his debut in the national jersey on January 31, 2006 for the U-17 national team in the international match against Portugal, which ended in a 2-2 draw. After he was also used in the youth teams of the U-18, U-19 and U-20 age groups, he made his debut on March 25, 2009 in the U-21 national team , which also drew 2-2 against Austria . For the senior team , he first came on May 31, 2014 in London , in the goalless draw in the friendly against the selection of Ireland . He scored his first international goal for this national team on October 10, 2015 in Baku in the qualifying match for the 2016 European Championship against the selection of Azerbaijan . He took part with the national team in the World Cup , which was held in Brazil from June 12 to July 13, 2014 , and played all three group matches , but was eliminated from the tournament with his team in third place.
He was included in the Italian squad at the 2016 European Championships in France . He was only on the starting line-up in the opening match against Belgium. After that, he only came back as a substitute in the third match against Ireland. In the round of 16 against Spain, he only came into the game in the final phase, but then gave the template for the decisive 2-0. He was substituted on shortly before the end of regular time against Germany in the quarter-finals. After extra time, he was the ninth Italian on penalties. As the fourth player in his country, he forgave and Germany then converted to the decisive 6: 5 after penalties.
During the subsequent qualification for the 2018 World Cup , Darmian under Gian Piero Ventura was part of the national team again and was also on the field in both play-off games against Sweden , in which Italy was defeated. Darmian was nominated for the last time by interim trainer Luigi Di Biagio in March 2018, but remained without commitment. It has not been taken into account since then.
