Pallone Azzurro

The Pallone Azzurro is an award of the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio , which was awarded to the best Italian football player of a calendar year from 2012 to 2016 . From 2014, the best Italian soccer player and the best Italian futsal and beach soccer players were also honored. Each election was carried out by the members of Club Vivo Azzurro , the official fan club of the Italian national football teams.

Andrea Pirlo

Soccer - men

For 2012 Andrea Pirlo was voted the best footballer with 35% of the vote.

Pirlo played for Juventus Turin since the 2011/12 season and was Italian champion straight away , with the team under Antonio Conte undefeated. In addition, Pirlo reached the final of the Coppa Italia with Juventus , in which the SSC Napoli were victorious 2-0, and won the Supercoppa against cup winners Napoli. With the national team , Pirlo finished second at the European Championship after losing the final to Spain 4-0.

Pirlo was honored with further awards for his achievements. He received the Pallone d'Argento from the USSI , the Premio Bulgarelli Number 8 from the AIC , the Guerin d'Oro from the Guerin Sportive and was Italy's Footballer of the Year . He was also named to the ESM Team of the Year , the UEFA Team of the Year , the All-Star Team of the European Championship and the AIC Team of the Year.

Second place went to Stephan El Shaarawy with 18% of the vote. Third place went to Daniele De Rossi with 12%.

2013

Gianluigi Buffon

For 2013, Gianluigi Buffon was voted the best footballer with 35% of the vote.

Buffon led his team Juventus Turin in the 2012/13 season as captain to the second championship title in a row. In the Coppa Italia , Juventus reached the semi-finals, in which Lazio had the upper hand, and won the Supercoppa against cup winners Lazio with a clear 4-0. In the Champions League , Juventus reached the quarter-finals and lost to FC Bayern Munich . Also as captain, he led the national team in the Confederations Cup to third place after Uruguay was defeated on penalties . In addition, the qualification for the 2014 World Cup was sovereign .

Second place went to Andrea Pirlo with 30% of the vote. Third was Mario Balotelli with 17%.

2014

Matteo Darmian

Darmian completed the 2013/14 season for Turin FC and reached seventh place with the team, which meant their first participation in the European Cup after 20 years due to the exclusion of Parma FC . In the Coppa Italia , Turin FC was eliminated in the third round against Delfino Pescara in 1936 . In the National Darmian debuted in May 2014 and participated in the World Cup in part where Italy was eliminated in the preliminary round.

For his achievements, Darmian was inducted into the AIC Team of the Year.

Second place went to Graziano Pellè with 32% of the vote. Andrea Pirlo came in third with 28%.

2015

Marco Verratti

For 2015 Marco Verratti was voted the best footballer with 29% of the vote.

In the 2014/15 season, Verratti and his team Paris Saint-Germain became French champions for the third time in a row . In addition, Paris reached the triple for the first time in its history by winning the Coupe de France (1-0 against AJ Auxerre ) and the Coupe de la Ligue (4-0 against SC Bastia ). For 2016, Gianluigi Buffon was voted best footballer with 37% of the votes and thus received his second award.

Buffon won the fifth Italian championship title in a row as captain with Juventus Turin in the 2015/16 season . Juventus also won the Coppa Italia by beating AC Milan 1-0 , but lost to the same opponent on penalties in the Supercoppa . In the Champions League , Juventus was eliminated in the round of 16 against Bayern Munich after extra time . The national team reached the quarter-finals with Buffon as captain at the European Championship , in which Germany won the penalty shoot-out.

Buffon was named AIC Team of the Year and UEFA Team of the Year . In addition, he received the Golden Foot of the World Champions Club and the Premio Nazionale Carriera Esemplare "Gaetano Scirea", two awards for the achievements made throughout his career

Second place went to Andrea Belotti with 25% of the vote. Leonardo Bonucci came in third with 10%.

The best futsal player was Stefano Mammarella .
