Golden Foot

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Golden Foot is an annual award for football players that was launched by the football management company World Champions Club and is promoted by the Monaco Tourist Board. The event at which the prizewinner receives his award is under the patronage of Prince Albert II , who also presents the award.

The winners of the Golden Foot leave their footprint on the Champions Promenade , a “Walk of Fame” of football in Monaco.

According to the official website of the award, the winners, who are honored for their entire career, must be at least 28 years old, but still be active, have performed particularly well as an individual athlete as well as in a team, and have a distinctive personality. A jury made up of media partners from the Golden Foot selects ten suitable candidates, and the users of the official website choose the winner from these via the internet.

The Golden Foot can only be won once by each player. However, players can be nominated multiple times for the award if they have not yet won the award.
