development
The MSH was founded in 2009 as a university of applied sciences with the Faculty of Health and started in 2010 with six courses. In 2013, the Faculty of Human Sciences was officially recognized with the status of a scientific college that is equivalent to a university .
Currently (as of 2018) the range of courses at the Faculty of Health consists of more than 20 Bachelor and Master courses. These enable a university of applied sciences degree and are strongly practice and application-oriented. The degree programs of the Faculty of Human Sciences offer a university degree and are more scientifically and methodologically oriented with four master’s degree programs. The combination of the Bachelor in Psychology and the Master in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy from the Faculty of Human Sciences complies with the current legal requirements of the Psychotherapists Act (as of 2018) and entitles the holder to subsequent psychotherapy training, subject to recognition by the competent state authority. With the Master of Education degree, the master’s degree in Medical Education fulfills the requirements for a teaching degree .
The managing partner of MSH is the university entrepreneur Ilona Renken-Olthoff. The rector is Christoph Eggers . MSH's partner universities include the MSB Medical School Berlin and the BSP Business School Berlin . In addition, the MSH has its own academic training school, the Institute for Practice-Oriented Further Education (IPW). In the 2018 winter semester, more than 3,000 students were enrolled at the MSH Medical School Hamburg.
