Meinhard von Ising (born June 21, 1790 in Emden ; † July 27, 1861 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general . In 1834 he and his brother Wilhelm received confirmation of nobility as "von Ising".

Life

origin

The Ising family comes from the Lower Rhine . The safe trunk series begins with Lic. Jur. utr. Eberhard Ising († 1735) from Vogelsang near Hamminkeln . His descendants carried the title of nobility as Prussian officers without objection. Meinhard was the son of Eberhard Johann Friedrich Ising (1752-1801) and his wife Anna, née Wychers (1761-1805 in Wesel). His father was a captain and company commander in the "Landgraf von Hessen" infantry regiment as well as a man on Vogelsang.

Military career

Ising came in 1802 as a corporal corporal in the infantry regiment "of Schladen" the Prussian army and advanced to April 1805 Ensign . During the Fourth Coalition War , when Hameln Fortress surrendered on November 21, 1806, he became a prisoner of war. On January 25, 1808 he took his leave as second lieutenant and entered the Oldenburg service as such in March 1809 . On May 31, 1810, he was appointed adjutant .

After the annexation of Oldenburg, Ising was taken over as Lieutenant and Adjutant-Major in French services on March 1, 1811 , and transferred to the 8th Light Infantry Regiment as a captain on June 20, 1812 . In the same year he took part in the Russian campaign, where he fought on the Beresina . On April 21, 1814, Ising retired from French service, entered Prussian service in mid-May 1814 and was aggregated as a staff captain in the Elbe Infantry Regiment . On May 28, 1814, he was recruited. During the campaign of 1814 he fought in the skirmishes at Chambery, Chateau Montabeau, Liby and Ancry. Ising was wounded in the Battle of Ligny and awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

On May 31, 1815, he joined the 26th Infantry Regiment as captain and company commander . From March 30, 1830 to May 14, 1830, Ising was active in the 27th Infantry Regiment . He then became a major in command of the III. Battalion in the 15th Landwehr Regiment. On April 28, 1834, he received confirmation of his nobility. On March 30, 1839, he was transferred to the 35th Infantry Regiment and on September 10, 1840, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . He was then commissioned on January 13, 1843, initially to lead the 19th infantry regiment , promoted Ising to colonel on March 22, 1843 and appointed him regimental commander on October 19, 1843. On March 5, 1846 he received his departure with the character of major general and pension. On March 4, 1858, he was put up for disposal with a pension . He died on July 27, 1861 in Potsdam.

family

Ising married Marie Anna Theodora Rosine Ostman von der Leye (1794-1820) in Osnabrück on July 4, 1816 . After her untimely death, he married Auguste Karoline von Loeben (1803-1870) on July 5, 1822 in Biederitz . The couple had several children:
