Eckart Friedrichson

Eckart Friedrichson (born January 14, 1930 in Wernigerode ; † June 7, 1976 in East Berlin ) was an East German actor and singer who gained great fame through his role as master needle eye in children's television.

Life

Friedrichson attended secondary school in Wernigerode and in 1945 first made contact with the theater there. From 1948 to 1950 he attended an acting school in Quedlinburg . From 1951 to 1952 he had a first engagement at the Volkstheater Rostock and then from 1952 to 1954 he was employed at the Berlin theater of friendship .

On November 23, 1955, the program “Master Needle Eye Tales” (later renamed “Visiting Fairy Tale Land”) was broadcast on East German television for the first time. The then 25-year-old Eckart Friedrichson took on the role of storyteller and presenter as a master needle eye in his tailor's room in Märchenland. Initially on Saturdays, later every Sunday, usually from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., this program was broadcast, which soon enjoyed great popularity among children and young people and was broadcast with him until 1975. With his large magic cubit, which served as a substitute for a guitar, Master Nadelöhr sang the song written by Wolfgang Richter , “I come from the fairy tale land”.

Friedrichsohn lived in Berlin-Karow and was a member of the LDPD .

He was married to Margitta Friedrichson (* 1945) until his death. He had two brothers. Jan Friedrichson, architect and civil engineer, b. 1942 and Peter Friedrichson , actor, b. 1946.

Eckart Friedrichson suffered from diabetes from the age of 13 , which led to a fatal heart attack at the age of 46. The urn grave is located on the Karow I and III cemetery in Berlin-Karow.

Honors

For the Day of the Child on June 1, 1964, a GDR 10-pfennig postage stamp was issued with a picture of him and the canary Zwirnchen.
