Meltem Acikgöz (born October 10, 1989 in Saarlouis ) is a German singer with Turkish roots. She became known through the 11th season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS), in which she took second place behind Aneta Sablik .

Career

Acikgöz began singing at the age of three, and in the following years she performed occasionally at small events. In 2008 she took part in the fifth season of the RTL singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar and was among the top 50 candidates after she had already received the recall of the 120 best candidates in the 2007 season . Four years later, Acikgöz was voted one of the best eight candidates in the Newcomer 2012 competition at Radio Salü . Since October 2012 she has been uploading cover versions of well-known songs on the Internet platform YouTube under the name "Melody" . Meltem Acikgöz took part again in the eleventh season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar , which aired from January 2014 , where she made it to the final on May 3, 2014 together with Daniel Ceylan and Aneta Sablik and finished second behind Sablik and ahead of Ceylan. Acikgöz has two younger sisters and lives with her family in Dillingen / Saar . She works as an employee in system catering .

Acikgöz 'debut single Explosion in My Heart rose to 25th place in the German single charts on May 16, 2014 ; On the same day, it entered the Austrian charts at number 20, and in the Swiss charts the single came to 17th place on May 11, 2014.
