Memmelsdorf in Lower Franconia (officially: Memmelsdorf i.UFr. ) Is a district of the municipality of Untermerzbach in the Lower Franconian district of Haßberge with around 500 inhabitants. Frequent alternative spellings are Memmelsdorf (Lower Franconia) and Memmelsdorf / Ufr. People who are unfamiliar with the area often confuse the place with Memmelsdorf of the same name, about 25 kilometers away in the administrative district of Upper Franconia.

Memmelsdorf in Lower Franconia is located on the Alster , a tributary of the Itz , about 28 kilometers north of Bamberg , 15 kilometers south of Coburg, 14 kilometers west of Lichtenfels and 6 kilometers northeast of Ebern .

On October 1, 1913, Memmelsdorf was connected to the railway network with the Breitengüßbach – Dietersdorf railway. The passenger traffic was stopped on September 28, 1975, on September 27, 1981 the complete shutdown took place.

According to the Düll'schen Chronik , the first written mention of the place goes back to the year 1139. The historical place name book of Bavaria gives the first mention of the year 1231, “when Eberhardus de Gemeinmolsdorf” was mentioned as a witness in a document.
