history

The place name probably goes back to the first settler Rachilo.

It was first mentioned in 1215 when Tegeno von Lichtenstein exchanged goods in "Recheldorf" with the Langheim monastery . In 1232 it was mentioned in the certificate of division of the Würzburg prince-bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and "Recheldorff" came to Ebern. In 1327 Konrad von Merzbach sold goods in "Rechelnorf" to the Banz monastery . In 1415 the Lords of Rotenhan received a farm at "Recheldorff". In 1574 "Recheldorff" belonged to the Wildberg office.

In 1862 the rural community of Recheldorf, which had been independent since 1818 , was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Ebern , consisting of three places, the village of Recheldorf, the hamlet of Fierst and the desert of Lützelebern . In 1871 the village had 131 inhabitants.

In 1900, the 609.37 hectare rural community had 182 residents and 37 residential buildings. 129 inhabitants were Protestant and 53 Catholic. 119 people lived in 23 residential buildings in the village. In 1925, 110 people lived in 22 residential buildings in Recheldorf. The majority of the village was Protestant. The Protestant parish and the denominational school were located in Untermerzbach, 1.5 kilometers away. In 1950 the village of Recheldorf had 168 inhabitants and 22 residential buildings. It belonged to the district of the Catholic parish Kaltenbrunn . In 1961 the place had 115 inhabitants and 24 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 105 and 1987 98 inhabitants as well as 22 residential buildings with 24 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the district of Ebern was dissolved and the municipality of Recheldorf became part of the Haßberg district. On May 1, 1978, the community was dissolved and Recheldorf was incorporated into Untermerzbach. The districts of Fierst and Lützelebern were assigned to the town of Ebern .
