Buch is a part of the Lower Franconian community of Untermerzbach in the Haßberge district .

geography

The village lies in the north-eastern part of the district on the back of an elongated ridge of the Haßberge . The district roads HAS 54 and HAS 46 lead through the village. In the east there is a forest with a former English landscape garden, which the Greiffenclau family had created at the end of the 18th century.

history

The place name is probably based on the designation Buchenwald. It was first mentioned in 1225 when the Banz monastery received the village of "Buche". In 1232 there was a mention in the certificate of division of the Würzburg Prince-Bishop Hermann , in which Ebern was separated from the parish Pfarrweisach and "Bugh" came to Ebern. In 1260 Albert von Schaumberg got the village "Buch" as a pledge. In 1303/13 the Theino and Karle de Lichtenstein received the tithe in book. In 1575 the diocese of Würzburg had Hintersassen in Buch.

In 1818 the Lichtenstein community association was established, consisting of the parish village of Lichtenstein and the hamlets of Buch, Dürrnhof and Herbelsdorf . In 1862 Lichtenstein was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Ebern . The 813.90 hectare rural community had 237 inhabitants in 1871, 217 of whom were Protestant, and 37 residential buildings. The hamlet of Buch had 78 inhabitants. An evangelical denominational school and a parish were located in Lichtenstein, 2.5 kilometers away.

In 1900, 63 residents lived in 14 residential buildings in Buch. The place belonged to the district of the Catholic parish of Gereuth , 1.0 kilometers away , where the Catholic school was located. In 1925, 58 people lived in 13 residential buildings in Buch. In 1950 the place had 63 inhabitants and 11 residential buildings. In 1961, Buch had 49 residents and 10 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 41 inhabitants and in 1987 47 inhabitants and 12 residential buildings with 12 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Ebern district was dissolved and the Lichtenstein community became part of the Haßbergkreis. On May 1, 1978, the Lichtenstein community was incorporated into Pfarrweisach without the Buch district. Book was assigned to the community of Untermerzbach.
