Menace II Society (English for: Danger to society ) (Alternative title: The street fighters ) is an American movie from 1993 . It was directed by twin brothers Allen and Albert Hughes , who were just 21 at the time . Tyrin Turner can be seen in the lead role . The film is one of the first to report on the shocking everyday life in the American ghettos.
action
The film focuses Caine, an orphaned teenager in the district is Watts in Los Angeles , which has been confronted since frühester childhood with violence and drugs. His father was a drug addict pimp who had murdered at least one person in a dispute over money. At the age of 18 he is now earning his living as a drug dealer. His best friend is O-Dog, an easily irritable, aggressive do-go-lucky who is mostly armed and on drugs. Caine lives with his strongly religious grandparents, but himself does not believe in God or in any other deeper meaning in life. The grandfather tries to influence him, but in vain.
At the beginning of the film, Caine and his friend O-Dog walk into a liquor store run by a Korean couple. The shopkeepers are afraid of the young blacks, want to get rid of them as quickly as possible and are extremely unfriendly to them. After they each bought a bottle of beer and want to leave the shop, O-Dog says to the shopkeepers: "You suck." The shop owner replies: "One can only feel sorry for your mother." Dog turns around and aggressively asks the Korean what he said about his mother - after a brief argument, he shoots the shopkeeper. He then forces the liquor's wife to hand him the video from the surveillance camera and then shoots her too.
With this event, Caine's career as a criminal begins. During the course of the film, he is involved in other murders, deals drugs, and steals cars. The film describes the everyday life of Caines and his clique . The friends are mostly high, aggressive, despise women and act completely irresponsible. Admonitions by law-abiding friends or relatives are not taken into account. Caine's only bright spot in life is the friendly relationship with the older Ronnie, whose son Anthony he takes care of. After Caine and Ronnie have developed a love affair and Caine is ready to take responsibility for her and her son, they decide to leave the area together and live together from now on. Meanwhile, however, another girl claims to have been impregnated by Caine, which Caine rigorously denies. When the girl's cousin demands that Caine face his responsibilities for alleged paternity, he freaks out and beats up the cousin. The grandfather tells Caine to leave the house that evening.
When Caine and Ronnie and friends finally pack up for the move in front of Ronnie's house, the humiliated cousin drives up in a car with masked friends and opens fire. Sharif, a friend of Caines, is dead on the spot. Caine himself is hit several times and bleeds to death in the arms of a friend. The film closes with Caine's last words: "I had done too much to stop and too much to go on." Individual events flash up that led to its end. "I guess in the end everything catches up with you." And he doesn't care whether he lives or dies. "It's too late now."
