Merir , or Melieli , is a small, remote island in the western Pacific . The elongated island is lush and surrounded by a coral reef . The main village Melieli is located in the northwest of Merir and has a radio station .

Together with the islands of Sonsorol and Fanna, which are 110 km to the north and the island of Pulo Anna about 50 km to the north-west, Merir forms the administrative state of Sonsorol , i. H. an administrative area of ​​the island republic of Palau .
