The Sonsorol Islands (formerly also Sonsol Islands or Sonserol ) are a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean . Politically, they belong to the Sonsorol administrative area of the island republic of Palau . The islands are over 300 kilometers away from the main Palau island of Babeldaob .

The group consists of two small islands about 1.5 kilometers apart : Dongosaro , the main island, and the uninhabited island of Fanna .
