Pulo Anna , also known as Puro or Bur , is a small, remote island in the western Pacific . It is densely forested and surrounded by a coral reef that has a diameter of 1 km. The main village on the island is Puro and is located on the northwest side of Pulo.

Together with the islands of Sonsorol and Fanna, located 80 km to the north, and the island of Merir located around 50 km to the south-east, Pulo Anna forms the state of Sonsorol , i. H. an administrative area of ​​the island republic of Palau .

history

From 1901 to 1914 the island was one of the German protected areas in the South Pacific . After typhoon damage in 1904, the population was temporarily relocated to another island in Palau.
