Michael August Blume SVD (born May 30, 1946 in South Bend , Indiana , USA) is an American clergyman and diplomat for the Holy See .

Life

Michael August Blume joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries ; Joseph Robert Crowley , then auxiliary bishop in Fort Wayne-South Bend , ordained him on 23 December 1972 a priest .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on August 24, 2005 titular Archbishop pro hac vice of Alexanum and Apostolic Nuncio in Benin and Togo . Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano gave him episcopal ordination on September 30 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Henryk Hoser SAC , Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Leonardo Sandri , substitute for the State Secretariat .

On February 2, 2013, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Uganda . On July 4, 2018, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Hungary .
