Michael Heinicke

Michael Heinicke (born November 22, 1950 in Dresden ) is a German opera director .

Life

Heinicke studied singing with Elsbeth Plehn in Dresden from 1969 to 1972 and opera directing in Berlin from 1972 to 1974 . Harry Kupfer brought him to Dresden as an assistant director; He owes him, according to his own admission, important suggestions for his directorial style. After engagements as senior director in Freiberg (1977 to 1980) and Bautzen (1980 to 1990), he went to the Chemnitz Theater in 1990 , where he worked as chief director and head of artistic planning.

As a guest director he worked a. a. in Bonn , Ottawa , at the Dresden Music Festival , at the German State Opera Berlin , in Washington, DC , at the Salzburg Festival , in Istanbul , Brussels , Cologne and Ōtsu / Japan.

Heinicke is a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts and was a member of the Saxon Cultural Senate for several years .

Services

Among the more than 100 directorial works by Heinicke (see works ), the Chemnitzer Ring stands out from 1998 to 2000. In 1999 he brought Der Weg der Verheißung ( Weill / Werfel ) to its German premiere.
