Arthur Michael Robert "Mike" Weaver (born May 2, 1978 in Bramalea , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 661 games for the Atlanta Thrashers , Los Angeles Kings , Vancouver Canucks , St. Louis Blues , Florida Panthers and Canadiens de Montréal has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . However, Weaver celebrated his greatest career success in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League , where he won the Turner Cup of the IHL in 2001 with the Orlando Solar Bears and the Calder Cup of the AHL in 2002 wearing the Chicago Wolves .
Career
The 1.79 m tall defender first played for the Michigan State University team in the league operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association before he was signed on June 15, 2000 as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Thrashers .
The right-handed shooter first played for the Orlando Solar Bears in the IHL and for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL , both farm teams of the Thrashers in lower-tier leagues, and his first NHL appearance for Atlanta was during the 2001/02 season . In the following years, Weaver commuted between Atlanta and Chicago until he finally moved to the Los Angeles Kings in 2004 . Due to the lockout , he played during the first season with their farm team, the Manchester Monarchs in the AHL, his first NHL games for Los Angeles, he completed in the following season .
For the 2007/08 season Weaver moved to the Vancouver Canucks , which he left after only one season in the direction of St. Louis Blues . There he received no new contract after two seasons and moved to the Florida Panthers for the 2010/11 season . Prior to the trade deadline , it was given to the Montréal Canadiens on March 4, 2014 in exchange for a five-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft . There, his expiring contract was not renewed after the 2014/15 season, so he announced the end of his active career in October 2015.
