Milton is a city in Fulton County in the US state of Georgia with 32,661 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Milton borders the cities of Alpharetta and Roswell to the south and is approximately 30 km north of Atlanta .

history

On March 9, 2006, the Georgia State Senate passed bill establishing the new city of Milton, which was signed by Governor Sonny Perdue on March 28 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 32,661 inhabitants were distributed over 11,659 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.80 people per household. There are a total of 12,328 households.

75.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.28 persons. Children under the age of 18 lived in 46.5% of all households and persons aged at least 65 in 12.7% of all households.

33.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 22.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 48.9% of the population were male and 51.1% were female.

76.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 9.0% as African American , 0.2% as Native American and 10.4% as Asian Americans . 1.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 6.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

The average annual income per household stood at 109,784 USD , while 5.5% of the population lived below the poverty line.
