Moritz von Dietrichstein
Prince Moritz Joseph Johann von Dietrichstein-Proskau-Leslie (born February 19, 1775 in Vienna ; † August 27, 1864 there ) was an Austrian officer and court official.
Life
Moritz Joseph Johann von Dietrichstein was the son of Karl Johann von Dietrichstein-Proskau-Leslie, 7th Prince of Dietrichstein (1728–1808) and brother of Franz Joseph von Dietrichstein . He joined in 1791 in the Austrian military service, was adjutant of General Mack 1798 in Naples , where he was taken with his boss captured by the French, and 1805 in Ulm , in 1815 tutor to the Duke of Reichstadt (to 1831), and later director of the Court Theater and Imperial Library, Chamberlain in 1845 and retired in 1848. Like his brother, Prince Franz Joseph, he was averse to the Metternich system. Beethoven was very encouraged by him. In 1838 he bought Haydn's autographs from God for the court library , which he already had in 1829 . received a gift, including the score of Mozart's Requiem . As director of the Münz- u. Cabinet of Antiquities (1833-48) he made further great services. He composed songs, dances, and minuets. In 1834 he was made an honorary member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences . After the death of his nephew, Joseph Franz von Dietrichstein-Proskau-Leslie, 9th Prince of Dietrichstein (1798–1858), Moritz Joseph Johann succeeded him in 1858 as the 10th Prince of Dietrichstein and owner of the Nikolsburg rule in Moravia.
Moritz Joseph Johann von Dietrichstein had three daughters and a son, Joseph Moritz von Dietrichstein (* July 4, 1801, † 1852). He served as an Austrian diplomat in Naples, Paris , London , Kassel , Brussels , Karlsruhe and Darmstadt from 1821–1848 , and in London from 1844–48.
Moritz Joseph Johann von Dietrichstein was born at Hietzinger Friedhof, Gr. 06, No. 15, buried. With his death on August 27, 1864, the Dietrichstein family died out in the male line. Four years later, which was Austrian statesman and foreign minister Alexander Graf von Mensdorff-Pouilly , (1813-1871), who was married since 1857 to a daughter of the 9th princes of Dietrichstein by Emperor Franz Joseph under the name Prince of Dietrichstein to Mikulov in the Austrian princes raised and inherited the Dietrichstein family.
