Moshtagh Hossain Yaghoubi (born November 8, 1994 in Kabul , Afghanistan ), also known by the nickname Mosa , is a Finnish football player who occupies the position of central midfielder on the field . After he gained his first experience in professional football at FC Honka , he played in five different countries within three years. After he played for the last season for Seinäjoen JK , he has been under contract with the Finnish first division club Helsinki IFK since January 2020 .

Moshtagh Yaghoubi was born in Kabul , Afghanistan in 1994 . As a member of the Hazara ethical group , he and his family fled to Iran in 1999 . After living in the capital Tehran for seven years, the family applied for asylum in Finland .

Yaghoubi started playing football at the amateur club Haukivuoren Palloa at the age of 13. After further positions in the youth teams of Mikkelin Palloilijat , HJK Helsinki and PK-35 Vantaa , he moved to FC Honka in 2011 . Mosa made his debut for Honka on October 13, 2011 against Kuopion PS . He scored his first league goal on May 27, 2012 against FC Inter Turku .

On February 27, 2014, Yaghoubi moved to the Virslīga club FK Spartaks Jūrmala in Latvia , where he signed a three-year contract. After just four months, he moved to the Russian first division club FK Dynamo Moscow . For the first team Yaghoubi was not used. He always shuttled between the bank and the reserve team. After returning to Spartaks, he scored his first league goal on October 26, 2014 in a 1-0 win against FK Daugava Riga .

On March 5, 2015, he moved back to his home country on a free transfer to Rovaniemi PS . With four goals and five assists, he contributed to the strong performance of his club in the 2015 season . RoPs reached 2nd place in the table and Mosa was awarded the prize for Rovaniemi's Best Midfielder .

A year after returning to Finland from Spartaks, Yaghoubi signed again with Spartaks Jūrmala on March 3, 2016. Just two weeks later, he was loaned to the Kazakh association Shakhtar Qaraghandy for a year . After eleven missions without scoring, Shakhtar ended the loan deal on June 17, 2016 and Mosa returned to Latvia.

For the 2017 season Moshtagh Yaghoubi switched to the Finnish record champions HJK Helsinki . Due to an ankle injury, Mosa missed winning the double, consisting of cup and championship, in the season finale. In 20 appearances, he scored four goals and prepared seven more. In the 2018 season , Yaghoubi defended the championship with HJK. The double could not be won a second time, as the cup final against Inter Turku was lost 1-0.

After the 2018 season he left the capital city club and remained without a club for two and a half months before joining the Seinäjoen JK on January 31, 2019 . In the 2-1 away defeat in his debut game in the Suomen Cup , Mosa was sent off with a straight red in the closing stages. He made his league debut for the first division team on April 6, 2019 in a 1-0 home win against newly promoted Helsingfors IFK . He scored his first goal on April 26th in a 1-1 draw against Vaasan PS . He was used in 15 league games this 2019 game year . At the end of September 2019, his contract with SJK Seinäjoki was prematurely terminated.

On January 1, 2020, he joined the first division club Helsingfors IFK. On January 26, 2020, he made his debut for his new club in a 1-1 draw in the cup match against his former employer FC Honka Espoo.

National team

Yaghoubi received Finnish citizenship in 2013. He was then immediately nominated for the qualifying game of the Finnish U-21 national team for the U-21 European Football Championship 2015 against Lithuania , in which he was not used. He made his debut on August 14, 2013 against Wales , in which he scored a goal.

He made his competitive debut for the A-selection on March 24, 2017 in the qualifier for the 2018 World Cup against Turkey . He came on in the 67th minute for Sakari Mattila . He scored his first goal on June 9, 2018 in a 2-0 away win against Belarus .
