The municipality of Chuma is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes -State Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Chuma is one of three municipalities in the province of Muñecas and is located in the western part of the province. It is bordered to the west by the province of Eliodoro Camacho , to the south by the province of Omasuyos , to the east by the province of Larecaja , to the northeast by the municipality of Ayata , and to the north by the province of Bautista Saavedra .

The municipality has 120 localities ( localidades ). The administrative seat of the municipality is Chuma with 370 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality, the largest village is Chajlaya with 699 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

geography

The Municipio Chuma is located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3000  m , on the western edge of the Cordillera Real . The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

The mean average temperature of the municipality is almost 14 ° C (see climate diagram Mocomoco), the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 11 ° C in June / July and 15 ° C from October to March. The annual precipitation is around 750 mm, the monthly precipitation is between under 20 mm from July to August and 100 to 150 mm from December to March.
