The municipality of Monteagudo is a district in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Monteagudo is one of two municipalities in the province of Hernando Siles and includes its northern area. It borders the province of Tomina to the northwest , the province of Azurduy to the west, the province of Nor Cinti and the province of Sud Cinti to the southwest , the municipality of Huacareta to the south , and the province of Luis Calvo to the east .
The municipality extends approximately between 19 ° 28 'and 20 ° 32' south latitude and 63 ° 49 'and 64 ° 20' west longitude, its extension from west to east is up to 50 kilometers, from north to south up to 100 kilometers .
The municipality comprises 138 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the small town of Monteagudo with 9,135 inhabitants in the northern part of the district. Other larger towns in the municipality are Candua with 2,308 inhabitants, San Miguel de las Pampas with 654 inhabitants and San Juan del Piraí with 459 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Monteagudo is located in the humid, subandine Chaco of Bolivia on the edge of the southeastern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central . In the months of May to September there is a pronounced dry season in the Monteagudo area , while the months of December to February are characterized by sometimes heavy rainfall.
The annual average temperature is 22 ° C (see Monteagudo climate diagram), the monthly values fluctuate between 17 ° C in June and just under 25 ° C in December.
