Múrias is a town and municipality in northern Portugal .

In 1972 the film Pedro Só was shot here, an important work in the new Portuguese cinema .

history

Finds prove a prehistoric settlement, in particular the Iron Age settlement of the Castro culture from the 1st millennium BC. It became a Roman settlement around the 4th century AD .

The present-day town was probably created during the course of new settlements after the medieval Reconquista in the 11th and 12th centuries.
