Mycielin ( German  Mietzelchen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to Gmina Dźwierzuty (Mensguth) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Mycielin is located on the south bank of the Samplatter lake ( Polish Jezioro Sąpłaty ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 19 kilometers northwest of the district town of Szczytno ( German  Ortelsburg ).

history

The small town of Mitzelchen was founded on June 23, 1852 and was called Abbau Samplatten until then . In 1905 it had 29 residents in four houses. Until 1945 Mietzelchen was a place to live within the municipality of Samplatten ( Polish : Sąpłaty ) in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg .

With the entire southern East Prussia Mietzelchen was in consequence of the war in 1945 to Poland handed over and received the Polish form of the name "Mycielin". Today the hamlet ( Osada in Polish ) is a place within the rural community of Dźwierzuty ( Mensguth , Dorf) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

On the church side, Mietzelchen was parish up to 1945 both in the Evangelical Church of Mensguth in the church province of East Prussia, the Church of the Old Prussian Union, and in the local Catholic Church within the Diocese of Warmia . The reference to the church now called Dźwierzuty still exists today for both denominations.

traffic

Mietzelchen is on a side street that connects Grzegrzólki (Kukukswalde) with Sąpłaty (Samplatten) . There is no rail link.
