Augustowo ( German  Augusthof ) is a small town in the Polish Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to Gmina Dźwierzuty (Mensguth , village) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Augustowo is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 20 kilometers north of the district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German  ).

history

Gut Augusthof was built on June 29, 1841 from the dismantling of Fresien and was one of eight dismantling operations in the East Prussian village of Sczepanken (1938 to 1945 Stauchwitz , Polish: Szczepankowo ) in the Ortelsburg district , to which it belonged until 1945.

In the aftermath of the war, the village and all of southern East Prussia were transferred to Poland in 1945. It received the Polish name form "Augustowo" and is now a settlement (Polish Osada ) within the rural community Dźwierzuty (Mensguth , village) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Augusthof was parish in the Evangelical Church of Mensguth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Mensguth in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .

Even today, Augustowo is ecclesiastically oriented towards the place now known as "Dźwierzuty": towards the local Catholic parish and the Protestant church, which is now a subsidiary church of the Pasym parish (Passenheim) in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Augustowo is conveniently located on Landesstrasse 57 (formerly German Reichsstrasse 128 ). In addition, the place is connected to the western neighboring places. There is no connection to rail traffic .
