Julkowo ( German  Julienhof ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Dźwierzuty (rural community Mensguth ) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Julkowo is located in the southern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 19 kilometers north of the district town of Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German  ).

history

Julienhof originally consisted of a large courtyard and was a residential area within the Rheinswein estate (in Polish Rańsk ). With the merger of the Rheinswein estate district with the rural community of the same name on September 30, 1928, Julienhof became part of the new rural community Rheinswein in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg .

When the whole of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Julienhof was also affected and received the Polish form of name "Julkowo". Today the place is a settlement ( Polish Osada ) within the rural community Dźwierzuty (Mensguth) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Julienhof was parish in the Protestant Church of Rheinswein in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Mensguth in what was then the diocese of Warmia .

Today the Catholics in Julkowo orientate themselves towards Targowo (Theerwisch) or towards Rybno (Ribben) in the present Archdiocese of Warmia . On the evangelical side, Julkowo is oriented towards the church in Dźwierzuty , now a branch church of the Szczytno parish in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Julkowo is located on a side road that leads from Rańsk on the provincial road 600 to Grądy (Gronden) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
