Dąbrowa ( German Damerau , also: Damerauwolka ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Dźwierzuty (rural community Mensguth ) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).
Geographical location
Dąbrowa is located on the east side of the Great Schobensee ( Polish Jezioro Sasek Wielki ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , twelve kilometers north of the district town of Szczytno ( German Ortelsburg ). The former Damarau estate was 250 meters from the lake on its high eastern shore.
history
Damerau consisted of an estate and scattered farms. From this two communities developed at the beginning of the 19th century: the manor district of Damerau and to the east of it the rural municipality of Damerauwolka, both of which were then merged to form the rural municipality of Damerau in 1928.
Gut Damerau
The Damerau estate was prescribed to Benedict von Modgarben by Duke Albrecht in 1557 . In 1607 it was bought by Hans von Wildenhain , who in 1615 sold it to Georg Pomiana von Dietrichsdorf . In 1683 Gut Damerau was owned by the von Ploschwitz family . After that, its owners changed more frequently.
Since the beginning of the 19th century, a distinction has been made between the manor district of Damerau and the rural community of Damarauwolka. The manor district was detached from Damerauwolka, and in 1874 it came to the newly established Jablonken district (1938 to 1945 Wildenau , Jabłonka in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Ortelsburg . In 1910 Gut Damerau had 63 inhabitants. Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which the Damerau estate belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Damerau, 33 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not receive any votes. The East Prussian Landgesellschaft bought the 286.8 hectare manor district in 1922 for settlement purposes . On September 30, 1928 the manor district of Damerau lost its independence and was incorporated into the rural community of Damerauwolka.
Damerauwolka
The rural community of Damerauwolka was only mentioned from the beginning of the 19th century. She was separated from Good Damerau like this in the newly formed District Jablonken in district Szczytno incorporated. In 1910, 36 inhabitants were registered in the 72.1 hectare rural community of Damerauwolka, who lived in a widely scattered area. In the referendum of July 11, 1920, 29 residents voted to remain in East Prussia, while Poland received four votes. After Gut Damerau was incorporated into the rural community of Damerauwolka on September 30, 1928, it was renamed "Damerau".
Rural community of Damerau
The rural community of Damerau, which existed from 1928, recorded a total of 151 inhabitants with its residential areas Gut Damerau and Damerauwolka in 1933, and 144 in 1939. The place was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of name "Dąbrowa".
Dąbrowa
The place Dąbrowa is today a village with the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and thus a place in the network of the rural community Dźwierzuty (Mensguth) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 part of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Dąbrowa had 94 inhabitants.
church
Gut Damerau as well as Damerauwolka were parish in the Evangelical Church Groß Schöndamerau ( Polish : Trelkowo ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Mensguth Dorf in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .
The reference to the church village now renamed "Dźwierzuty" still exists for Dąbrowa on the Catholic side. On the Protestant side, too, there is now a connection to the church in Dźwierzuty .
school
A school existed in Damerau since 1925 - still in what was then Damerauwolka.
traffic
A side road leads to Dąbrowa, which branches off south of Dźwierzuty from the Polish state road 57 (former German state road 128 ) in a westerly direction. There is no connection to rail traffic .
