The NRW.Invest GmbH (proper spelling NRW.INVEST ) is a state-owned economic development agency of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The company is responsible for the acquisition and support of foreign companies and international marketing for North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location. As a central point of contact for foreign investors, NRW.Invest supports international companies with their investment projects in North Rhine-Westphalia. NRW.Invest Germany is headquartered in Düsseldorf . In addition to the subsidiaries in Japan and the USA , the company has external offices in China , Great Britain , India , Israel , Korea , Poland , Russia and Turkey . The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is the sole shareholder .

When it was founded in 1960, the then "Rheinisch-Westfälische Industrieförderungsgesellschaft mbH" was commissioned by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to recruit successor industries for the coal and steel industry, which was in crisis .
