Matches
The show began with the match for the NXT Tag Team Championship between Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly from the stable The Undisputed Era against The Authors of Pain ( Akam and Rezar ), accompanied by their manager Paul Ellering . The defending champions Fish and O'Reilly won by pinfall after an O'Reilly roll-up against Akam.
Next up was a singles match between The Velveteen Dream and Kassius Ohno , which The Velveteen Dream won after he had brought his finishing move Purple Rainmaker against Ohno to the finish. Then again, Ember Moon successfully defended her NXT Women's Championship against Shayna Baszler . After the match, Moon continued to be attacked by this, which laid the foundation for the continuation of the feud between the two after NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia .
The fourth match was an Extreme Rules match between Aleister Black and Adam Cole . During the fight, Cole got support from fellow stable members of The Undisputed Era, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. However, this did not lead to Cole's victory after another stable appeared with SAnitY ( Eric Young , Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain ) and again attacked the members of The Undisputed Era. Ultimately, Black won against Cole after a Black Mass .
Main Event
The main fight of the event was a match for the NXT Championship between the title holder Andrade Almas and the challenger Johnny Gargano . Both had previously met at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III in August 2017 in a match that Almas emerged victorious from. At NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia , Almas won again after a hammerlock DDT from the top ring rope against Gargano. Previously, the valets of both opponents, Zelina Vega and Candice LeRae, intervened several times in the match.
After the title match was over, Gargano was attacked by Tommaso Ciampa , his former partner in the #DIY tag team .
