Speyer main station

Local public transport in Speyer is operated by a city ​​bus network, which is supplemented by S-Bahn transport . It is part of the Rhein-Neckar transport association .

The central connection point of the bus lines with each other and with the S-Bahn is the Speyer main station , in addition there is another stop in the S-Bahn traffic with the Speyer Nord / West stop. In addition, a third S-Bahn stop is planned with the Speyer Süd stop.

Another bus transfer hub is located at the inner-city Postplatz .

Rail transport

Speyer is connected to rail traffic via the Schifferstadt – Wörth railway line. The Rhein-Neckar S-Bahn runs every half hour via Schifferstadt in the direction of Mannheim and to Germersheim , where there is a connection to Karlsruhe and Bruchsal . The two-hour RegionalExpress Mainz –Karlsruhe also stops at Speyer main station .

On weekdays there is a single early connection with the InterCity to Frankfurt , including an afternoon counterpart (only Mon-Thu).

Until 1945, the Heidelberg – Speyer railway branched off at the main train station and ran across the Rhine to Hockenheim to the Rhine Valley Railway , branched off from this again in Schwetzingen and continued on to Heidelberg. Between 1905 and 1956 the meter-gauge local railway Speyer – Neustadt ran between the local train station Speyer and Neustadt an der Weinstrasse .

Further planning

In the south of the city, a third S-Bahn stop is planned, which will be in the area of ​​Dr.-von-Hörmann-Str. should arise in the immediate vicinity of the special area Speyer-West (hospital). All lines run every hour on Sundays. The superimposition of lines creates on the sections Hauptbahnhof - Postplatz - Flugzeugwerke (564, 565), Postplatz - Theodor-Heuss-Straße (562, 563), Berliner Platz - Kurt-Schumacher-Straße (562, 563) and in the Speyer district North (564, 565) every 15 minutes. In the area from the main train station to Flugzeugwerke (564,565) or to Domplatz (568), the “City Tariff” is the successor to the “City Shuttle”, as the line with midibuses was abandoned and the section of the shuttle to line 564/565 fully and partially integrated into line 568. The special rate (currently € 1.10) for this day ticket, only valid on this section, has been retained. On Sundays, buses run there every 30 minutes. Only on the section Hauptbahnhof - Postplatz - Flugzeugwerke (564, 565) there is a bus every 15 minutes on Sundays. Lines 561, 566 and 567 are served by bus. The line number is always changed at the main station. On Fridays and Saturdays there is late service on lines 562 to 565 and 568 until midnight, otherwise operations end around 8 p.m.

20 vehicles are required to operate the city bus network.

Brand- new Iveco Crossway Low Entry buses operate on lines 561 to 568 , which will be replaced by Mercedes-Benz Citaro Euro 6 buses from April 2014. A midibus from MAN operated on line 569 until March 2014, which was replaced by a Fiat Ducato minibus in March.

Before 2014, the following lines were operated by BRH Viabus and Busverkehr Rhein-Neckar:
