National Council constituency of Jura

The Jura National Council constituency is an electoral district for elections to the Swiss National Council . It covers the entire canton of Jura and has existed since 1979.

Origin, electoral process and number of seats

The Jura National Council electoral district came into being in 1979 when the canton was founded (or split from the canton of Bern ). Proportional voting is used, in which the seats are allocated to the lists available for selection in proportion to all votes cast. Due to the population development, the constituency of Jura always had 2 seats.
