The Lahe is a 20 km long tributary of the Soeste in the Lower Saxony district of Cloppenburg (excluding the Great Aue) . The Lahe rises as the Große Aue in the Garrel district of Tweel and is named Lahe east of Bösel in Aumühlen . The river runs in a north-westerly direction, later almost parallel to the Lahe downfall , which feeds part of its water to the coastal channel . The river then bends south of Ahrensdorf near Friesoythe to flow south of Kampe near Ikenbrügge into the Soeste. The course of the river is designated as a nature reserve along its entire length .

The main fish species in the Lahe are pike , pikeperch , perch , many eels , carp , rarely tench , trout and many different species of white fish .

The Laheniederung is a lowland landscape rich in grassland . This offers an excellent habitat for meadow birds , including curlew , lapwing , whinchat and wagtail . The transition from the Geest to the valley floor is clearly pronounced .

Tools from the Middle Stone Age (8000 to 4000/3000 BC) have been found along the Lahe .

North of the Lahe is a 4 m high river dune, the Tateberg natural monument , which is overgrown with oak trees.
