The Dellwiger Bach nature reserve is located in the Dortmund district of Lütgendortmund in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany. It covers 112.1 hectares. The nature reserve "Dellwiger Bach" was designated on June 19, 1986 by a temporary seizure by the Arnsberg district government. On January 10, 1996 it was stated in the Dortmund-Mitte landscape plan.

description

The centerpiece of the nature reserve is the renatured Dellwiger Bach with its extensive surrounding deciduous forests, fallow areas, swamps and small trees. The beech and oak mixed forests , which are rich in old wood, are important for the nature reserve . In these there are sieves with source zones and natural streams with ponds, overgrown with reeds and reeds . After the Dellwiger Bach and the Katzbach were renatured between 1982 and 1986, the Dellwiger Bachtal is now an important breeding and habitat for birds such as the buzzard , tawny owl , water rail , black warbler , small woodpecker and stock dove , as well as amphibians such as fire salamander , pond newt , common frog and natterjack toad . The rare forest lizard also lives here.

Since the nature reserve is a popular recreational area, walkers, and especially dog owners, who let their animals run free, impair the wild animals that live here.

Protection goals

The protection goal for the nature reserve is the preservation and development of the biotope complex on the Dellwiger Bach, in particular the forests rich in old wood, the preservation of the moist grassland locations, the still waters, the forest streams and the extensive use of the fallow land to counter the bushing of nettles and blackberries .
