Protection goals

Urban redevelopment is problematic for the nature reserve. The nature reserve is surrounded by the A2 motorway in the north, the Dortmund-Ems Canal in the east and an industrial park in the south. The most important protection goals are the preservation and development of a biotope complex consisting of open grassland, forests and bodies of water, in particular the promotion of a permanent extensive use concept is important in order to prevent encroachment and forest cover and to suppress the invasion of alien species.
