The Sanderoth nature reserve is a nature reserve in the Dortmund district of Scharnhorst between Alt-Scharnhorst and Hostedde . It covers 23.6 hectares. The "Sanderoth" nature reserve was established with the first change to the Dortmund-North landscape plan on September 2, 2005.
description
The nature reserve includes parts of the Sanderoth Forest, an oak forest with an adjacent wetland and surrounding arable land. The oak forest is loosened up by hornbeams , poplars , red beeches and bird cherries . The lower vegetation layer is made up of blackberries , forest grass and nettles . The southern part of the nature reserve contains humid areas. Goldenrod , swamp forget-me-nots , reeds , bank wolfstrapp , water mint and water dost grow here . In the south, a noise barrier delimits the area. This serves to keep the explosion noise of the test track for mining in the Sanderothwald - here firedamp explosions are simulated - away from the residents. This experimental area has meant that the area has hardly been entered in recent years. Meanwhile, however, hiking and cycling trails lead through the nature reserve.
Protection goals
The most important protection goal is the preservation of the richly structured mixed oak forest island close to the settlement as a stepping stone biotope in the immediate vicinity of the settlement. There is an ecological development concept for the arable land.
