The NSG was designated in 2001 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan No. 6 Meinerzhagen . The nature reserve Schoppenwasser-Tal is only separated by a path in the south of the NSG .

Area description

The NSG is the meadow valleys of the meandering Hemche and the Geit with their floodplain . There is mostly grassland in the floodplain . Partly there is wet and damp grassland in the NSG. Some of the grassland has fallen fallow .

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the conservation and development of the meadow valley and as a habitat for endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

For the NSG there is a special prohibition “the grassland before June 15. to mow ".
