Neil Travis

Herbert Neil Travis (born October 12, 1936 in Los Angeles , California , † March 28, 2012 in Arroyo Grande , California) was an American film editor .

Life

After Neil Travis got his bachelor's degree in arts and theater from UCLA , he tried his hand at the film business and, after his first assistant editor in 1965, helped Billie in films such as The Crook and The Hell We're Thomas Stanford before joining The Traveler in 1970 Executioner was allowed to direct a film editing independently for the first time. His successful career was already beginning in 1977, when he received two Emmy nominations for Roots , one of which he subsequently won. His most frequently nominated and award-winning editing, however, was Dances with Wolf , he not only received a BAFTA Award nomination, but was also awarded the Oscar for Best Film Editing in 1991 .

Neil Travis was a member of the American Cinema Editors . and received the ACE Career Achievement Award for life's work in 2010 .

Herbert Neil Travis died on March 28, 2012, his wife and their son and daughter survived him.
