The Nettetal is a nature reserve in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The area is between the A 48 and the L 98 state road southwest of Ochtendung an der Nette , a tributary of the Rhine .

The nature reserve has a size of approx. 705 hectares and comprises parts of the city of Mayen and the municipalities of Maifeld and Pellenz .

The purpose of protection is to secure the "Nettetal" landscape area

  • to maintain its dry grassland , rock formations , forest stands and wet areas as habitats of species-rich biocenoses from many rare or endangered plant and animal species, in particular orchids, butterflies and birds;
  • for scientific and cultural reasons;
  • Because of the special nature and scenic beauty of the Kerbtal .

The nature reserve was designated by the Koblenz district government by ordinance of January 10, 1986.
