Architecture and history

The villa was built in 1894/95 by the Berlin architect Max Bel . The stone was built for the Dippe family, who ran the directly adjacent seed breeding company Gebrüder Dippe . A little further south is the Villa Neuer Weg 23 , which originally also belonged to the Dippe family . The elaborate design of the house is reminiscent of the German palace architecture of the Renaissance . Particularly noteworthy are the stone carving work carried out in the design of the building. The property is surrounded by an appropriately designed enclosure.

The appearance of the house and the garden is impaired by a connecting building to the house at Neuer Weg 23 , which was added later on the south side . The intermediate building was part of the Institute for Plant Breeding and was built between 1952 and 1954.
