Architecture and history

The two-storey villa was built between 1893 and 1895 according to plans by the Berlin government master builder Max Bel for the Dippe family, who were active in the field of seed cultivation and owned several neighboring buildings. The building marks the southern city limits of Quedlinburg at the end of the 19th century. It is extremely complex, both in size and in design, and is reminiscent of baroque Italian city palaces. The facade, made of red clinker bricks, is designed in a historical style. Between 1952 and 1954, a connecting building was built on the north side of the villa to house Neuer Weg 22 , which was used as part of the Institute for Plant Breeding.

There are valuable Mannerist paintings inside the house .

A park belonging to the property and the property enclosure are designed in the same quality.
