The Neumarkt Basin ( Kotlina Nowotarska in Polish ) in Poland is a large basin in Lesser Poland . It is at an altitude of 510 to 686 m above sea level. NHN and covers an area of ​​369 km².

The Neumarkt Basin is part of the Podhale region and extends at the confluence of the Czarny Dunajec and Biały Dunajec to the Dunajec and the Białka (confluence with the Jezioro Czorsztyńskie reservoir ) between the West Beskids ( Arwa-Podhale Beskids or Saybuscher Beskids and Gorce ) in the north and the Gorce Foothills of the Tatra Mountains ( Pogórze Bukowińskie and Pogórze Spisko-Gubałowskie ) in the south. The Arwa Basin joins in the west , with which it forms the Arwa-Neumarkt Basin . To the east are the Pienines .

The Neumarkt basin is densely populated. The largest city is the eponymous Nowy Targ . Other important places in the basin are: Chyżne , Ciche , Czarny Dunajec , Dębno , Długopole , Falsztyn , Frydman , Gronkow , Jabłonka , Koniówka , Krempachy , Ludźmierz , Maruszyna , Nowa Biala , Ostrowsko , Piekielnik , Podczerwone , Rogoźnik , Skrzypne , Stare Bystre , Szaflary , Waksmund , Wróblówka and Zaskale . The fertile and climatically favorably located region is otherwise agricultural, especially cattle breeding.

The Zakopianka from Krakow to Zakopane and the DK 7 and the Chabówka – Zakopane railway run through the basin in a north-south direction .

The ethnic group that inhabits the basin are the Podhalanie , a group of Polish Gorals . The Spiš Gorals live on the eastern edge and the Arwa Gorals on the western edge .
