Niko - A reindeer takes off

Niko 2 - Little Reindeer, great hero is a Finnish 3D - animated film from the year 2012 . It is the continuation of the film Niko - A reindeer takes off .

action

Since Niko has known that his father is Prancer from the flying troop, he has been there every weekend to be able to fly as well as he does. He secretly hopes that his parents will get back together. But at home he finds out that his mother Oona has met a nice reindeer bull named Lenni. To make matters worse Niko has with Lennis son Jonni also a stepbrother, who quickly the hearts of friends Nikos flying squirrel Julius and ermine wins Wilma.

Niko very much wishes to get rid of the little troublemaker. This wish also comes true when Jonni is kidnapped by eagles during a game of hide and seek in the forest . Niko immediately takes up the chase, but has to take the path on foot due to the bad weather. He meets the grumpy old reindeer Tobias, who reluctantly accompanies him. Meanwhile, the eagles had to find out from their client that they had kidnapped the wrong reindeer boy and lock Jonni in a dungeon below a large rock cave. Niko gets there through a secret passage, but is also caught by Tobias' mistake. He learns that the eagle's client is a white she- wolf to which the birds of prey are loyal. She tells Niko that she is the sister of the black wolf who wanted to kill Santa Claus at the time , but who was prevented by Niko and she now wants to take revenge for it. Suddenly Niko and Jonni are saved by Tobias, who, as it turns out, can also fly.

On the way home, Tobias explains that he was once the leader of the flying troop and, due to his poor eyesight and false pride, was to blame for the fact that two children once received no presents on Christmas Eve and that he had therefore secretly left. However, the white she-wolf has not given up and with the help of her eagles takes the flying troop captive using a trick. When Niko rushes to their aid, Tobias, Jonni, Julius and Wilma come with them to support them and by working together they can put the bad guys on the run. Tobias has to find out that the flying troop regards him as a hero and even Santa Claus is happy to see him again. Despite the joy of it, Tobias knows that his place is no longer there and goes with Niko to the reindeer herd. Now Niko not only accepts Lenni as the new father and Jonni as the new brother; they even receive a special Christmas present in the form of a baby sister that Oona gives birth to. Now Niko also manages to reach the Christmas speed in flight thanks to his happy heart. But even the eagles can get something positive out of this Christmas: the white wolf, who was tied up and decorated like a gift from the chase in the toy factory and is accordingly out of humor.

reception

According to kino.de , the film offers a “balanced mix of fun sequences with lots of dialog humor and exciting moments”. The Berlin city magazine tip notes that, compared to the first film, "threat scenarios" had been defused and looked rather comical, which made the film better than its predecessor for its child target group.

Christina Krisch from the Kronen-Zeitung praises the fact that it is a “no-frills, but extremely hearty animation” and that the film appeals to children “of kindergarten age ”. The landscapes are "a bit more naive than in Ice Age " and not " photo-realistic ", which means that the children can concentrate better on the main character Niko.
