Nikolaus Albrecht von Baehr (* 28 December 1717 in Anklam , † 17th October 1797 in Konigsberg in East Prussia ) was Royal Prussian Major General and most recently chief of the Fusilier - battalion no. 12.

Life

origin

He was of middle-class origin. His parents were the deacon of the Marienkirche of Anklam Johannes Baehr († March 4, 1758) and his wife Johanna Cramer .

Military career

He matriculated on April 21, 1734 as a theology student at the University of Jena . On April 18, 1742 he moved to the University of Halle . But in the same year he became a soldier in Infantry Regiment No. 19 . On September 23, 1742 he was to be transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 30 (Jeetze) because he came from its canton of Anklam. He fought in the Second Silesian War in the Battle of Kesselsdorf . There he distinguished himself so much that he was promoted to sergeant on the battlefield . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles near Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Leuthen , Zorndorf and Torgau . For Freiberg he received the Pour le Mérite . Already at the beginning of the war on May 11, 1757 he was appointed Ensign of the Infantry Regiment No. 30 , on February 28, 1759 he became second lieutenant with a patent from March 1, 1759, he also became an adjutant to General Joachim Friedrich von Stutterheim . On May 5, 1763, he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and left the regiment's budget. After the war he became a captain on November 24, 1768 and continued to be adjutant to General Stutterheim, who took over the inspection in East Prussia . But on April 12, 1769, he was transferred as a major to Grenadier Battalion No. 4 (von der Hardt). On July 4, 1773, he was the commander of an independent grenadier regiment and on January 24, 1775, he was the commander of the newly established Grenadier Battalion No. 7 . On January 26, he received his promotion to lieutenant colonel . As such, it also took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On September 9, 1780, he became a colonel, and when the grenadier battalions were disbanded, on May 7, 1787, he was appointed chief of the newly formed Fusilier Battalion No. 12. But already on May 23, 1788 he received his resignation as major general with 800 thalers pension for reasons of age . On April 4, 1789, he was given permission to wear his uniform until the end of his life. He died in Königsberg in 1797.

family

He married Madeleine Jeanette Louis on October 29, 1785 (* 1770 - May 15, 1799). Their son Friedrich Viktor Albrecht (born September 22, 1789, † January 18, 1867) died as President of the Higher Regional Court in Köslin .
