Norbert Senninger
Norbert Senninger (born June 24, 1952 in Ingolstadt ) is a German surgeon and university professor.
Life
Norbert Senninger was the first son of the married couple Rudolf Senninger, chemist, and Annaliese Senninger, nee Sauer, editor. In 1956 the Roman Catholic family moved to Ludwigshafen . There he attended the Wittelsbach School and later the Albert Schweitzer School. In the old and new language Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium , Norbert Senninger received prizes for the best performance in Latin and later for the best Abitur grade. Funded by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes 1971–1977, he began studying medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg in 1971 .
After passing the Physikum in 1973 with the top grade 1, a stay abroad in Newcastle upon Tyne in Great Britain followed from August 1974 to August 1975. The doctoral thesis at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg near Paweletz with the title Light and electron microscopic examinations of the mitotic apparatus of HeLa cells After treatment with a heparinoid , it was rated “ magna cum laude ” on October 31, 1977 .
After passing the state examination , he married his long-time girlfriend Christina Bauer in November 1977. The marriage produced three sons.
Career
From January 1978 to March 1979 Norbert Senninger worked as a medical officer in the Air Force in Munich and Karlsruhe. This was followed by a year of pathology with Wilhelm Doerr before starting his career with Fritz Linder in May 1980 . In 1981 he was already working as an assistant doctor at the Heidelberg University Clinic, on the Cap Anamur for a six-week cruise in the South China Sea. He worked on the rescue of the so-called boat people of the Vietnam War .
In September 1982 he started a postdoc fellowship with Frank Moody in Salt Lake City , USA , and later in Houston , Texas . His work dealt with the pathogenesis of pancreatitis ; Among other things, he developed an possum model to confirm Opie's common-channel theory.
The specialist examination in surgery on July 20, 1988 was followed on March 19, 1991 by the sub-area of trauma surgery , on June 12, 1996, by the specialty of visceral surgery , and on the same day by the additional title of special surgical intensive medicine . On May 17, 1990 , Norbert Senninger completed his habilitation on the subject of Intestinalization of the Pancreas - a new operative concept for resection and transplantation .
On January 1, 1991, Norbert Senninger was appointed senior physician and on October 1, 1994 senior physician in charge of the Heidelberg University Hospital under his long-term mentor Christian Herfarth . On October 1, 1996 he accepted the chair of surgery at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .
On March 31, 2018, Norbert Senninger retired. During his ordinariate , more than 300 doctorates , 22 habilitations and 12 adjunct professorships were completed at the Clinic for General and Visceral Surgery at the University Hospital of Münster . Under his direction, 209 surgeons received further training and his clinic has given rise to 21 chief physicians . Since 1996, more than 80,000 operations, including over 2,500 organ transplants , have been performed under his responsibility .
