Nuța Olaru (born August 28, 1970 in Orodel , Dolj County ) is a Romanian long-distance runner who specializes in road running. She received US citizenship at the end of 2011 and has since started for the United States .

career

In 1993 she won the Belgrade Marathon half marathon competition . In 1995 she became national champion in the marathon and in 1996 in the half marathon.

At the World Half Marathon Championships in Palma in 1996 , she finished fourth and won gold with the team. The following year she was sixth in the Paris Marathon and came in 30th place in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Athens . At the Half Marathon World Championships in Košice she was fifth and defended their title with the team. At the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998, she finished 34th, and in 1999 she won the half marathon competition of the Gold Coast Marathon .

In 2000 she finished second in the Los Angeles Marathon , won the Lille Half Marathon , became national runner-up in the half marathon and came in 41st at the World Half Marathon Championships in Veracruz . The following year, she finished second again in Los Angeles and, in sixth place in the London Marathon, improved her personal record by almost ten minutes to 2:25:18 h. At the Marathon of the World Championships in Edmonton she ran a 15th place, and at the Half Marathon World Championships in Bristol she was eleventh. In 2002 she was seventh in the Boston Marathon , again Romanian runner-up in the half marathon and eighth in the Chicago Marathon .

The following year she was eleventh at the marathon of the world championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , came in 23rd place at the half marathon world championships in Vilamoura and was ninth in Chicago.

In 2004 she finished fifth in Boston, finished 13th in the Athens Olympic Marathon , won the Philadelphia Half Marathon and came second in Chicago. In 2005 she was tenth in Boston and gave up at the marathon of the World Championships in Helsinki after 25 km. This was followed by eighth place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton and fourth at the Las Vegas Marathon . In 2006 she finished fourth in Los Angeles and sixth in Chicago, and in 2007 seventh in the Osaka Women's Marathon and sixth in Chicago.

In 2008 a seventh place in Boston and a third place in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon was followed by victory in the San Antonio Marathon . In 2009 she finished second in the Houston Marathon and third in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, but did not get above 60th place in the marathon of the World Championships in Berlin and 49th place in the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham . In 2010 she finished third in the Tokyo Marathon .
