geography

The village lies on the Altmühl . Immediately to the north, the Obere Wasengraben flows into the Altmühl as a left tributary. The Riedlein corridor area extends to the south-west. The district road AN 55 leads to Mörlach (1.3 km west) or to state road 2411 near Ornbau (1.2 km east).

history

In 1383 the Heilsbronn monastery bought goods there.

In the 16-point report of Oberamts Ansbach 1684 listed 11 teams for Oberdorf: 2 properties were under the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach , 3 property the eichstättischen Box Office Ornbau-Arberg , one property of the parish Ornbau and 5 property the Lords of Crailsheim to Sommersdorf . The high court exercised the court box office in Ansbach, the village and community rule and shepherd's staff held the box office Ornbau-Arberg. Nothing in these conditions changed until the end of the Old Kingdom (1806). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

With the community edict (early 19th century) Oberndorf was assigned to the tax district Ornbau and the rural community of Obermühl . The municipality of Obermühl was incorporated into the rural municipality of Gern by 1837 at the latest . On January 1, 1972, this was incorporated into Ornbau as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
