Glad is a district of the town of Ornbau in the Central Franconian district of Ansbach ( Bavaria ). In the 18th / 19th In the 19th century there was the spelling "Gehrn" or "Gehren" for the place name.

Geographical location

The village is located one kilometer south of Ornbau in the northwest of the Franconian Lake District in the immediate vicinity of the Altmühl feeder . The Altmühlsee begins about four kilometers south . The Gerberin corridor borders to the southeast of the village.

Municipal roads lead to Ornbau (1 km north) and to the district road AN 55 (0.4 km south-west), which runs to Mörsach (2.5 km south-east) and to state road 2411 (0.6 km west).

In 1806 Gern came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the community edict (beginning of the 19th century) Gern was assigned to the Ornbau tax district . A little later the rural community of Gern was formed. It was subject to the Herrieden district court in terms of administration and jurisdiction . By 1840 at the latest, the rural community of Obermühl was incorporated with Haag , Oberndorf and Taugenroth into the rural community of Gern. The municipality had an area of ​​6.181 km². On January 1, 1972, Gern and its districts were incorporated into Ornbau as part of the regional reform .
