Wonischen (Ohnišťovice)

geography

Ohnišťovice is 4.5 kilometers southeast of Poběžovice on the banks of the Černý potok (German: Schwarzbach), which rises about 20 kilometers further south on the slopes of the Čerchov and feeds several large ponds near Ohnišťovice. About one kilometer northeast of Ohnišťovice the Pivoňka flows from Poběžovice into the Černý potok. After another 10 kilometers, the Černý potok flows into the Radbuza on the western outskirts of Horšovský Týn . At Ohnišťovice there are emeraldite gabbro , feldspar and pegmatite with embedded garnets and beryls .

history

The entire Radbuza area including its side valleys was settled by Slavs before the year 1000. The name Ohnišťovice comes from Czech: ohniště = fireplace, fireplace, fire place and must be regarded as original. The German Wonischen was tonally based on the word Ohnišťovice. For this you have to know that in the local Bohemian dialect even today all words beginning with O have a clearly spoken W initial sound. So z. B. on (= he) is spoken of won or osel (= donkey) is spoken of wosel.

Wonischen was first mentioned in writing in 1186.

In 1537 Wonischen belonged to Ronsperg. The owner at that time was Albrecht von Guttenstein. He pledged Ronsperg with Wonischen and other villages for 6 years to Bohuslaw Barchanetz von Ottow. In 1656 Wonischen had 5 farmers, 4 Chalupners, a gardener, 23 teams, 7 cows, 20 young cattle, 54 sheep and 34 pigs.

In 1880 a three-arched stone bridge was built over the Schwarzbach, which connects the large side on the left bank with the small side on the right bank.

In 1789 Wonischen had 26 houses, in 1839 it had 35 houses and in 1939 44 houses with 251 inhabitants. There were 14 farmers with holdings of 18 to 36 hectares, 17 small farmers (up to 8 hectares), an innkeeper, a tailor, a grocery store and a blacksmith.

Many residents worked in the nearby spar pits, from which around 1,000 wagons of feldspar and quartz were extracted every year. Wonischen belonged to the parish of Meclov, but had its own elementary school.

After the Munich Agreement , Wonischen was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Bischofteinitz district .
